Based on resolver's experience to date, the feasibility of paying off your Green Deal loan early will depend on the agreement you have signed and the provider. As this is a loan there may be early repayment charges (if the repayment period is more than 15 years) and the first step should be to contact your energy company or Green Deal Provider to check what any charges are. Any early repayment charges must have been disclosed to you up front or made clear in your green deal agreement. If it is the case that you were unaware of the early repayment charges then you should write and complain to the Green Deal provider in order to ask for these charges to be waived. As a last resort, you can complain to the Ombudsman and ask them to arbitrate your case, but you should bear in mind that if an early repayment clause is included within your deal you are unlikely to obtain redress unless you can demonstrate that you were misled. ??It should be borne in mind that since your Green Deal loan repayments are tied to the property, if you are intending on moving house before the Green Deal loan period is completed then it will be in your interests not to pay the loan off early.

Resolver recommends that you submit your concern in writing and we can assist you in all aspects of your complaint; formulating letters, recording dialogues, and reminding you when and who to escalate to.
There is a Code of Practice which sets out requirements designed to ensure that all Green Deal Participants and Certification Bodies:

• operate fairly and transparently;
• deliver good customer service;
• have appropriate levels of training;
• and provide appropriate redress mechanisms for customers.

Green Deal Participants and Certification Bodies must ensure that a copy of this Code of Practice is made available, free of charge, to anyone who requests it. This should help you to understand your specific rights if something goes wrong.
